Juniors vs Our Lady’s Boys Club@ Sportsground

The Juniors lost on Friday night 8-7. It was a great game of rugby in wet and windy conditions with both teams wanting to play as good rugby as the condition would allow. The lads played out of their skin.We had a penalty in the last 2 minutes to win it but the ball went under the bar. There was great effort from all involved. OLBC are top of their division having won 4 from 4. The Juniors are currently 3rd. So close against the leading team in the Division
Galwegians up next.

U15 Boys vs NUIG

The U15 boys travelled to a very wet Dangan in Galway to get their league campaign back on track .The poor conditions affected the game, making handling difficult. But in a scrappy game the Colts came out on top. This goes some way to respond to the difficult game last week. Well done Boys

Final Score: NUIG 0 -45 Colts

U15 Girls vs Glaswegians at Dunmore

Galwegians were the visitors to Dunmore for our U15 girls in the league. The Colts took control of this game early and never looked in trouble. The conditions were not great but that didn’t stop our girls when Mae Hession crossed for the first of her two tries, finishing off some slick handling. The girls kept up the pressure with Chloe Nevin scoring twice, Aine Mangan and also Ciara Nyland also scored. The second half brought more of the same with Rosie Cawley, Aisling Hahessy, Saoise Quinn, Abby Ronaynne scoring and Aoife Meehan crossing twice to seal the tie. So the Colts going very well but they still have some tough games ahead .

Final score Colts 70-10 Galwegians

U13 Boys vs Sligo

The Colts u13s we’re back in action today hosting Sligo in Ballyhaunis. The Colts started very brightly with excellent team play and a very intense work rate with many line breaks and eventually one the saw Liam Walsh break free to score first with Matty Morris on hand to add the conversation from a difficult angle . The Colts continued to pile on the pressure and with a number of pick and drives Danny Noone crossed the line for a well deserved try number two again Morris slotted the extras to leave the colts 14-0 up 20 minutes in . But then the game turned as the colts were forced into a double change as scrum half Conor Dwyer and out half Morris collided; they were both playing well at the time. Sligo got in for a well worked try before half time .The second half was evenly contested but Sligo had the better of it on the scoreboard. A great team effort by the Colts and some outstanding displays from Adam Thornton, Danny Noone, Michael Foody, John Finn, Liam Walsh and Oisin McNicholas who also went off injure.

Final score Colts 14-17 Sligo.

Minis Training

It was certainly a normal Saturday for the Minis with training as usual on the Convent Pitch. One change from the normal was a Coach training session with our Connacht Coach Gavin Foley. Gavin is an excellent coach who, apparently, can only train in the rain. The weather did no disappoint him. After our session with Gavin, concentrating on passing and tackling he was more than happy to stay and work with coaches in the teams. Also around to help during the boys sessions was Walter Gibbons who works in the local schools promoting Rugby in the area. Walter’s contribution to the sessions was also much appreciated. A number of the coaches said afterwards that they really appreciated Gavin’s and Walter’s help on the day. Thanks again guys
