Match Reports – Nov 4th weekend

Minis Home Blitz against Ballina and Dunmore

The Colts hosted the first Minis home Blitz of the season on Saturday with 170+ players taking part from U7 through to U11. Ballina brought multiple teams in most age groups with Dunmore filling with the missing teams. Despite the cold and occasionally wet weather all the Colts had a great morning (especially the Hot Dogs) and the experience will certainly help them improve. Much thanks must go to Robert and his team for all the preparation and organisation, the coaches for refereeing and managing the complexities of that many players and matches. Special mention must go the ‘Colts Dinner Ladies’ who coped with a sudden massive influx of young hungry rugby stars who were desperate to get the hands on some of the amazing food provided by parents and others which helped make the Blitz end with a bang and not a whimper. Thanks to Ballina RFC and Dunmore RFC for bringing along such strong teams.

U16 Boys vs Sligo

Unfortunately things didn’t go our way this week. The Colts were ahead until the 58th minute but just ran out of steam allowing the opponents to come on on top. The lads gave it their all and their skill and effort is an example to all our teams. There will certainly be some tired and sore bodies for a few days.

Final Score: Sligo 22-12 Colts
